Description

In this class, we will excavate our memories to generate short essays, letters, and fragments from our lives. Through in-class writing prompts, the study of a wide range of published memoirs, shared stories, and optional homework, your story will start to come together in a nonlinear messy memoir. Photographs, food, domestic spaces, and lists are just some of the thresholds we will explore. Bring a journal, pen or pencil, and a desire to explore and document your story.

Instructor Amy Bowers is a writer originally from Florida currently finishing her MFA in creative nonfiction at Bennington College. She has taught online creativity and writing classes for women for the last decade. Her background is in Art History and American Studies. She has published essays in PANK, Centered, Bella Grace, Mabel Magazine, and is featured in a forthcoming lyric essay anthology published by The University of Nebraska Press.
